The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers M.Tech in Manufacturing Science & Engineering. The department has well qualified, experienced and committed faculty to provide quality industry tuned education to the students. The Department Infrastructure fulfills the requirements of academics, supports research and learning skills on the latest technology in the industry. 

The students are molded with multi dimensional skill sets covering all the required graduate attributes. The students of the department get into the industry through placement and there is a high inclination towards entrepreneurship and research. The department is supported by a large alumni group. Students are introduced to global challenges and encouraged to take up projects in this direction.


The Post Graduate programme in the field of Manufacturing Science and Engineering has been started in the year 2014. 

The department is adequately funded by various government bodies and supported by industries. A research grant to the tune of 700 lakhs is funded to the department by various agencies like DST, AICTE, DRDO, AR&DB etc. The department has good number of MOUs with various sectors of industry ranging from automotive to manufacturing domains. Various societies like SAE, FPSI, and ASHRAE etc. have their student chapters in the campus bridging the gap between industry and academia. Industrial training, bridge courses are conducted periodically in the department for industries such as Scania Commercial vehicles India Pvt. Ltd, FPSI etc.

Programme Educational Objectives of Post Graduation Programme- Manufacturing Science and Engineering

1. Graduates will have knowledge in the discipline of Manufacturing processes and systems with hands on skill in using modern machine tools and equipment to address real world engineering problems and be socially responsible.

 2. Graduates shall be successful in their career as materials and manufacturing of various engineering components using conventional and advanced materials and processes, participating in a team or individually in an industry, research or academia.

3. Graduates shall be proficient in their communication, presentation and will be prepared to engage in the process of life-long learning through professional development and research.

Acquire in-depth knowledge of specific discipline or professional area, including wider and global perspective, with an ability to discriminate,evaluate, analyse and synthesise existing and new knowledge


Analyse complex engineering problems critically, apply independent judgment for synthesising information to make intellectual and/or creative advances for conducting research in a wider theoretical, practical and policy context


Think laterally and originally, conceptualise and solve engineering problems, evaluate a wide range of potential solutions for those problems and arrive at feasible, optimal solutions after considering public health and safety, cultural, societal and environmental factors in the core areas of expertise.


Extract information pertinent to unfamiliar problems through literature survey and experiments, apply appropriate research methodologies, techniques and tools, design, conduct experiments, analyse and interpret data, demonstrate higher order skill and view things in a broader perspective, contribute individually/in group(s) to the development of scientific/technological knowledge in one or more domains of engineering.


Create, select, learn and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools, including prediction and modeling, to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.


Possess knowledge and understanding of group dynamics, recognise opportunities and contribute positively to collaborative-multidisciplinary scientific research, demonstrate a capacity for self-management and teamwork, decision-making based on open-mindedness, objectivity and rational analysis in order to achieve common goals and further the learning of themselves as well as others.
